Welcome

The Center for Academic Excellence in National Security Intelligence Studies was recently established at Wayne State University, with a renewable grant from the U.S Intelligence Community. This pilot program is a designed to increase the pool of eligible applicants for positions within the intelligence community with an emphasis on students with diverse cultural backgrounds, language proficiency, geographical expertise and related competencies. Although, the program is based in the College of Engineering , students from all disciplines are encouraged to participate.

The project goals include increasing awareness among college and high school students of career opportunities in the intelligence community and developing skill sets relevant to intelligence community careers. The project includes:
  • Designing and revising curricular components at Wayne State University to develop critical intelligence community skills sets.
  • Creating a program for students to obtain an Undergraduate Certificate in National Security Intelligence Studies. WSU students can apply for this selective program, take courses in the IC curriculum, receive study abroad travel scholarships, and participate in internships at IC agencies.
  • Forming partnerships with Consortium members to host outreach activities, collaborative programs and an Academic Colloquium.
  • Developing a metropolitan Detroit high school outreach program to promote awareness about the intelligence community, including a High School Summer Institute focused on intelligence.
