HSETI Summer Program Details

2008 High School Engineering Training Institute (HSETI) Summer Program Details

The dates of the 2008 program will be June 23, 2008 – July 18, 2008. This is a day program with classes Monday – Thursday, with Friday’s being reserved for field trips. There is a $250.00 program fee for this institute. Lunch, two daily refreshment breaks, materials and field trips are included in the program. Class will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m.   An Orientation Session will be held prior to the first day of the program.  Attendance will be mandatory for students, and parents will also be invited to attend.  A Certificate of Completion will be presented to each student during the Closing Ceremony on the final day, and the student must have 95 % attendance. 

Please download the Application and Release of Liability, complete, and mail with a check for $250.00, made out to Wayne State University. The deadline for applications is May 15, 2008. Please apply early as spaces are limited and much in demand.

Eligibility requirements for applicants are the following:

  • Student must be a rising senior.
  • Student must have at least 2.7 cumulative GPA
  • Student must provide the name and phone number of a guidance counselor who will provide a recommendation. 
  • Student must be a U.S. Citizen.

This 4-week program is designed to increase student knowledge and awareness of the rich and varied career opportunities available in the intelligence field. The program will be action-packed, high energy and designed to engage the interest of high school students. Intelligence representatives will participate in course discussions and activities, and the instructors will involve the students in interactive workshops about national security issues, global affairs, and the importance of foreign languages. Students will receive quality instruction in leadership, communication, critical thinking and other important life skills.
